Black History Month TEDTalk
This TED-Talk inspired event addressed underlying issues of racial adversity through the life experiences of three distinguished professionals.
- Chenits Pettigrew, Jr. Ed.D., a Pittsburgh native and is currently the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Director of Diversity Programs and Assistant Dean for Faculty Diversity at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine;
- Yona Harvey, Ph.D., the author of the poetry collection, Hemming the Water, winner of the Kate Tufts Discovery Award from Claremont Graduate University. Her work has been published and anthologized in many publications including A Poet’s Craft: A Comprehensive Guide to Making and Sharing Your Poetry and The Force of What’s Possible: Accessibility and the Avant-Garde.
- Debra Okafor, a fourth year student who is interested in specializing in Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania '12 with a B.A in Health and Societies.
